Basics
- Every Pokemon you can obtain can be shiny, even traded Pokemon. There are no shiny locks.
- The shiny odds are 1/256.
- DexNav Pokemon have a higher chance of being shiny at streaks of 50 and 100.
Elm’s lab starters
- Save in front of the starter case before opening it.
- Open the case and check the starters. A shiny starter has a gold colored ball, and its sprite is shiny when hovered.
- If the starter you want is not shiny, soft reset the game and check again.
Eggs
- Eggs use the base 1/256 odds. The Masuda Method is not enabled in this hack.
- Gift eggs can be shiny just like any regular gift Pokemon.
- Shiny eggs have blue dots on their sprite.
- An egg’s shininess when breeding at the Day Care is decided when the egg is spawned at the Daycare Man, not when it’s accepted/hatches.
- The Day-Care Man says, “This Egg looks quite different from the ones we usually see!” when a shiny egg is ready. This message is shown before he asks if you want the egg.
- Accept the egg after the special message. Otherwise, decline it and walk until another egg is ready.
Legendaries, static encounters and gifts
Save directly before starting a Legendary or static encounter or receiving the Pokemon. If it is not shiny, soft reset and try again. Gift Pokemon show as shiny in the preview screen when received.
Raikou, Entei and Suicune are rolled when they are released in Burned Tower. Their shininess does not change each time they are encountered. It is recommended that you instead use a Shiny Genome if you wish to have them as shiny.
NPC trades
NPC trades can be shiny and have 12 times the normal shiny chance. Save before completing the trade, then soft reset if needed. The sprite will show as shiny during the trade animation.
Note about save states
You may use save states to shiny hunt many of these faster, but you have to occasionally advance the RNG by opening a bag or taking a few steps for example, so that you don’t get stuck in the same outcomes.
